Hi, I’m Lesley

I’m an Artist and HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist based in the UK, working with individuals and families in a trauma-informed way.

I’m passionate about the healing power of creativity and believe deeply in the therapeutic benefits of art in supporting emotional and physical wellbeing. My work is rooted in the idea that reconnecting with creativity isn’t just possible—it’s essential.

Over the years, I’ve worked with children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings, always with the goal of empowering people to express their true selves, build confidence, and feel more at ease in the world.

A colleague once said I “bleed paint,” which still makes me smile—because for me, creativity really is in my veins.  Whether you're feeling stuck, disconnected from your creativity, or simply looking for a new way to explore your inner world, I’m here to help you rediscover the joy of creating.

As an Artist

My own creative journey is at the heart of everything I do. I create expressive, abstract and semi-abstract mixed media paintings in a range of sizes, often using a playful mix of materials and techniques.
My artistic roots lie in textiles and clay, but over time my practice has evolved into bold, expressive mixed media work.  Art has always been a constant in my life.
I vividly remember winning an art competition as a young child after making a collage of a train, and another moment creating an owl image when I was about 11.
These early experiences helped shape my lifelong love of making things.  I studied Constructed Textiles at university, earning a B Des (Hons), and later taught secondary school art for over a decade before transitioning into art therapy—a decision that combined my love of creativity with my passion for supporting others.
You can find a selection of my original artwork for sale on my website and in my Etsy store.

As a Therapist

I hold a Master's degree in Art Therapy from the University of Derby and have worked extensively in mental health settings since qualifying in 2016.
My therapeutic approach blends creativity with psychological insight to help clients express emotions, gain self-understanding, and navigate life’s challenges.

Art therapy is a powerful form of psychotherapy that uses image-making and creative materials to access deeper thoughts, feelings, and experiences—often when words alone don’t feel like enough.

Through this process, clients are able to connect more fully with themselves, manage emotions, and explore new ways of being.  I have significant experience supporting children, adolescents, and families with a wide range of emotional and psychological presentations. I am a member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), adhering to professional standards and ethical guidelines to ensure safe and effective practice.

To meet the unique needs of each client, I also integrate elements from other evidence-based approaches, including:  Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Emotional Change Therapy (ECT)  Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP)

Whether through paint, conversation, or quiet reflection, I’m here to help you rediscover your creative spark, heal through expression, and move forward with confidence.
