THE POWER OF CREATIVITY

Art is an essential, yet often missed part of self development and has the power to impact all areas of your life.

The Focus 5 : Activate, Regulate, Explore, Express, Empower provides a structure to use art for healing, to improve mental health and provide ways to calm the nervous system.... to relieve stress, anxiety, panic, and disconnect.

Making and experimenting with art materials can energise and boost ones mood and help to explore, express and regulate emotions.


What is The Creative R+R?

The Creative R+R is a 28 day programme where you are supported to use creativity as a means of self expression and self care.

The R+R part provides the reset, rest, refresh, restore and recovery that you need, whilst cranking up your creativity and boosting your confidence.  

You are encouraged to explore different art and creative ideas to express yourself as well as learning new skills and techniques for your art.

A unique approach that integrates art therapy with creativity and mindset coaching and self care practices. 


Each week there will be content to learn about and challenges set based on my unique system A New PACE method

PAUSE, ACT, CREATE, EMPOWER

A New PACE allows you to acknowledge your personal experiences, current situation and the different factors that influence you whilst taking action being creative and making improvements in your life.

You have the opportunity to embrace YOUR OWN PACE and make choices based on your personal preference interests and situation at the same time as being given a boost and having the accountability and support.

My name is Lesley and I live in Leeds, West Yorkshire

  • I am artist and trauma informed art therapist and used to be an art teacher so bring all these elements together to support you to achieve your wellbeing goals.
  • I am on a mission to make the world a more CREATIVE PLACE and to help people to really connect with, TRUST and EXPRESS themselves to feel confident, grounded and energised.
  • My favourite flower is a sunflower and I am at my best when surrounded by like minded people and my happy place is either in my art studio or up a mountain.
  • One of my key values in life is to live with authenticity and so recognising my vulnerabilities as well as strengths is important to me. 
  •  As a woman in my 40s I am no stranger to the impact that hormonal changes have on people's mental and emotional wellbeing, this is one of the driving forces behind my programmes as I want to empower women to be able to express their true selves regardless as to what they are going through or have been though in their lives.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

You are encouraged to make as much or as little art as you like and whilst having a variety of art materials can be useful you can start with just a small selection such as pencil crayons, pastels and paint.

You may like to use a sketchbook or individual sheets of paper to create art and record your ideas much like having a creative journal. As your artwork develops you may decide to work bigger, on canvas or other surfaces and can make 2D art such as collage, paintings or drawings or 3D making sculptures or crafts from different materials.  

There are no requirements to have loads of art skills or experience or have studied art previously to take part in the program and I always say that expression is more important than perfection.
You will be encouraged to express yourself using art in different ways as well as if you prefer to introduce, music, dance, poetry, comedy or whatever form of creativity suits you.
Whilst the focus is not on the teaching of skills through the coaching and group accountability there are ample opportunities to improve your skills as well as to develop ideas.

For this one to one service at an investment of £275 you will be able to access 4 weekly online sessions (using zoom). I am flexible about when you take these depending on availability but best spaced out rather closely together to allow you to take action and be creative between sessions.

These will last around 45 mins and are designed to help you to be creative and express yourself as well as learning ways to regulate your nervous system to help you regulate emotions

You can access the resources and watch the training videos in your own time and it's up to you as to how much time you dedicate to your art and creative practise. Some people find it helpful to block out a period of time each day and others prefer to allocate one or two days in the week to make art.

I am a qualified art psychotherapist registered with HCPC (Health Care Professionals Council) and work in a variety of ways with my clients. We can explore your thoughts, feelings emotions and experiences and how these things might impact your art making and your goals and individual support needs.
In such a short period of time there may not be not long enough to provide a service that explores deeper emotional challenges including traumatic experiences that art therapy is very beneficial for so it might not feel like you are taking part in therapy in a traditional way.

What it might feel more like is 'Creativity and Wellbeing Coaching' with curious prompts for you to explore ideas whilst supporting you to make art for self care and self expression.

If you are looking for a deeper exploration and more support then my 6 month 1-1 service might feel appropriate for you as the next step, as this allows for more time as longer sessions.
